Indonesia Earthquake Readiness

Together with Community Based Action Team (CBAT) volunteers, local governments, and community organizations, we strengthen disaster preparedness by promoting citizen-led journalism, introducing retrofitting for safer, earthquake-resistant buildings, and enabling two-way, transparent communication through the AtmaGo app. In partnership with PMI Indonesia and with support from USAID/BHA and the American Red Cross, Sakawarga works to build community resilience to earthquakes in Sukabumi and Banyuwangi.

Impacts

  • PMI’s complaint and feedback mechanism has been integrated into AtmaGo, complete with categorization features, official responses, and a real-time analytics dashboard
  • Improved communication and coordination capacity among local stakeholders during disasters
